The United Arab Emirates announced a $30 Million Emergency Humanitarian Aid Package in order to help civilians who are affected by the worsening situation of the humanitarian crisis in El Obeid North Kordofan Sudan. The announcement was made under the direction of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It will be provided in partnership with United Nations, and international humanitarian organizations to provide immediate relief to families affected by the ongoing conflict.
Emergency aid to support civilians in Sudan
New funding will be used to provide food, medical aid, clean water, housing, and other humanitarian services for those affected by the El Obeid crisis. UAE officials say that the country is committed to helping international relief efforts, and to ensuring humanitarian aid reaches communities in need as soon as possible. The aid package forms part of the UAE’s wider humanitarian strategy which is focused on protecting civilians in conflict-affected areas and meeting urgent needs.
Since the beginning of the Sudan conflict in 2023, the UAE has been actively supporting humanitarian operations. The UAE’s humanitarian assistance to Sudan now totals about $800 million. This latest announcement shows the country’s continued commitment to help displaced families and refugees, as well as communities in severe hardship. To maximize the impact of relief, the assistance will be coordinated by UN agencies and partners who are already on the ground.
The UAE authorities also reiterated their support for the international efforts to improve humanitarian access and reduce the suffering of the civilians affected by conflict. The funding shows the UAE’s commitment to provide emergency assistance in humanitarian crises, while working closely alongside global organisations to deliver vital aid where it is most needed.
